Sub-Floor Installations Over Concrete
If you have a concrete base floor, we can install a subfloor over that so the hardwood flooring nailed on top of the subfloor. Solid hardwoods will be installed over your subfloor using a nail down method. This option is a typical choice for new constructions in the Staten Island area, and it is very commonly used. In order for this option to be viable, you will need to have the slab recessed in areas where hardwood will installed, or you'll see a difference in elevation of around 1-1 1/2.
Glue Down Over Concrete
Any floors that are going to be glued down are most likely engineered woods, which means that there are various thickness, widths, and species options available. Engineered wood floors are prefinished most of the time, and whether or not they can be sanded depends on the wear layer.
Engineered woods are a perfect choice for anyone who wants the look and feel of solid hardwood, but can't accommodate solid nail down flooring.
Nail Down Over Plywood
If your Staten Island home does not have a concrete slab, our nail down over plywood method is the typical way to get hardwood flooring installed. All solid woods and some engineered woods can be installed with this method.
